Установка модема

Народ, кто знает как установить внутренний модем Acorp Prime под Линукс, дрова я скачал с офф. сайта и что теперь делать? И еще в этих дровах стоит ограничение на скорость, я вроде нашел как его убрать, но надо открыть один файлик и заменить цепочку символов, но чем открыть его можно? Помогите!

про этот тип модемов. Там же есть патч под свежие ядра.

Открыть - в любом текстовом редакторе. Например kwrite или mcedit.

Ну что начнемс. Поставил я значит Mandrake 10.1, начал ставить по инструкции:
METHOD C: TAR PACKAGE (*.tar.gz)

If you have obtained the driver package in tar format:

1. extract the package with "tar -xzf hcfpcimodem-{version}.tar.gz"
("tar -xzf hcfusbmodem-{version}.tar.gz" for the USB version)

2. change to the package directory with "cd hcfpcimodem-{version}"
("cd hcfusbmodem-{version}" for the USB version)

3. run "make install" from the top of the package directory.

4. run "hcfpciconfig" ("hcfusbconfig" for the USB version) to complete
the installation and configure your modem.

Дошел вроде нормально до 4 этапа, далее ввожу hcfpciconfig и:
[root@localhost sasha]# cd hcfpcimodem-1.11full
[root@localhost hcfpcimodem-1.11full]# hcfpciconfig
Conexant HCF controllerless PCI modem driver, version 1.11full

Что делать, я как понял у меня проблемы с ядром? помогите чайнику…

В школе поставили ALT Linux 2.3 Junior. И вот вопрос, как там настроить локальную сеть и модем, эээ, модем,,, кароче нет через кабель))) Объясните плиз, чё делать?

2 Два вопроса первый как настроить модем в лине через ик связь :? а то чтот ничего путного не получилось и 2 Как настроить модем в Unix (Frenzy free bsd) икак с ним там работать*TIRED*
